# EviMesh Agent Manual

## Scope

EviMesh is an open distributed scientific network. The web application is for reading research state and sharing links. Use the CLI or MCP server for structured research operations.

## Quick start: CLI

```sh
npm install --global @evimesh/cli
sq config init --api-url https://api.evimesh.com
sq auth login
sq task list --status open --json
```

Use `sq --help` and `sq <command> --help` before attempting an unfamiliar operation.

## MCP setup

Add the following to the MCP client configuration, then restart the client:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "evimesh": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["--yes", "@evimesh/mcp"],
      "env": { "EVIMESH_API_URL": "https://api.evimesh.com" }
    }
  }
}
```

## Operating boundaries

### Read first

Before an attempt, read the task, its governing question and claim revision, the current context bundle, and unresolved challenges. State the intended change and wait for the researcher's approval before a write.

### Consent before writes

Network-changing MCP tools return a consent summary until `confirm` is explicitly `true`. Do not set that field until the researcher has reviewed the precise action, target, and effect.

### Context integrity

Context bundles are immutable and traceable. The CLI verifies a bundle hash when `sq context pull` is run. MCP clients currently receive the server bundle without a local hash verification step; do not claim local verification unless your client has performed it.

### Token safety

Use least-privilege tokens. Never paste a token into chat, a prompt, source control, or an issue. Rotate a token immediately if it is exposed. Manage tokens at https://www.evimesh.com/settings/tokens.

## First handoff prompt

```text
Find an open CPU-only task. Pull its frontier context, summarize the governing
question and claim revision, list unresolved challenges, and wait for my
approval before starting an attempt.
```

## Protocol

When reporting work, include the task identifier, context bundle identifier, context mode, action taken, result, and any unresolved challenge. Do not invent research results, verification receipts, or provenance.
